Lassen Sie uns einmal schildern, was man bei der Fahrt von Linz zu sehen bekommen würde, bis man hier das Stift Mellk erreicht. Bald hinter Linz verengt sich das Tal bedeutend, das Bild des Stromes verfinstert sich; wir kommen zu einer Stromenge. Von wilder Clematis umrank, steigt links Schloß Geinburg empor, gleich darauf wird das altertümliche Städtchen Grein selbst sichtbar. Nun wird der Strom plötzlich noch mehr eingeengt (auf den zehnten Teil seiner früheren Breite!); wir
durchfahren den Greiner Schwall. An der sagenumwobenen Insel Wörth vorbei kommen wir zu dem ehemals für die Schiffahrt gefährlichen 300 m langen Strudel und steuern der Burg Werfenstein zu. Nach Passierung der Hausstein-Felseninsel, deren Sprengug seit 1866 der Schiffahrt freie Bahn geschaffen und den einst gefürchteten Wirbel in eine ungefährliche Stromschnelle verwandelt hat, erreichen wir Station St. Nikola. Später folgt Donaudorf mit altfranzösischem Schößchen, links Markt und Schloß Persenburg, schließlich rechts das Städtchen Ybbs, das Pons Isidis der Römer. Nun macht die Donau die sogenannte Böse Beuge, bringt uns an Säusenstein vorüber nach Marbach mit der hochgelegenen aussichtsreichen Wallfahrtskirche Maria Taferl (433m). An Krummnußbaum vorbei nach Klein- und Groß-Pöchlarn, dem ehemaligen Sitze des aus dem Nibelungen-
lied bekannten edlen Markgrafen Rüdiger von Bechelaren. Der Dampfer passiert das berühmte Benediktinerstift Melk mit der wegen ihrer Orgel berühmten gotischen Pfarrkirche und einem reichhaltigen Museum im Rathaus der Stadt Melk. Und Stift Melk sehen wir hier in seiner majestätisch alles bezwingenden Lage am hohen Donauufer.

Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
